Invitation to Chapel Fundraiser-Measure your waist for admission

This is an invitation to a Chapel fundraiser, it is undated. On the back is a note by Ruth Hedges Osborn, “This is what we are going to have tomorrow night, have to pay to come in according to your measure, we'll play games.” , most likely written around the turn of the century, c. 1900.

For all the things were trying to do
At parsonage, church and Chapel, too,
We need your help our bills to pay,
So we'll do the work and invite you to play.|
So

Come to the Chapel at 7:30
on Thursday next and please eat hearty;
for all your waist we're going to measure,
the larger they are, the greater our treasure.

A cent an inch is all we’ll charge,
So never mind if your waists are large.
Between ladies and gents there'll be a race,
So come prepared to keep up the pace.

If either sees the other gaining,
just swell a little show your training.
if thus you'll let us take your measure,
to please your taste we will endeavor.
